Who is this guy?
Liam Rogers Bassford, son of Andy and Elizabeth, brother of Ethan. Jack of a few trades, master of maybe one or two at best. Resident of the great Northeast, Washington, DC.
Bona fides:
- Bronx, New York, born and raised.
- Graduated from Hunter College High School, 2011.
- Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from McGill University, 2015. I majored in Linguistics and minored in Hispanic Languages, i.e. Spanish. My thesis, a sociolinguistic analysis of a very specific aspect of Québécois French, can be read here.
- Proud AmeriCorps NCCC alumnus, Atlantic Region, Class XXII, 2016. I started as a Corps Member on a FEMA Corps team, and was promoted to Team Leader towards the end of my term.
- Career FEMA guy ever since: first as a reservist, then two Planning-related roles at Region 8 in Denver area, and currently standing watch at FEMA’s National Watch Center. My full CV is attached.
My primary professional interest is in the world of emergency management, situational awareness, and generally making order out of chaos. I am potentially open to side work in this field, as long as ethics review permits. You can reach me at liam.bassford@gmail.com if you’ve got something in mind.
Outside of work I enjoy playing music, going on road trips, trying new restaurants, hiking, and the occasional round of DnD. I do not particularly enjoy lifting weights, but keep up with a modest regimen.
I use this space primarily for hopefully-thoughtful writing on subjects that are somewhat within my wheelhouse. My opinions absolutely do not reflect the opinions of my employer, family, friends, or any other party or organization.
